Friday 5

Here’s the five things that are on my radar this week…

Peonies: With June being their prime season, i’ve already started to notice less peonies around, my favourite flower, so good while they’re around, until next year, beautiful (When I’ll hopefully have grown my own!)

Beauty Pie: I’ve been a member of Beauty Pie for a few months now and am really enjoying getting such premium products at a fraction of the price, especially now i’m on Mat leave! I use the One Palette Wonder on a daily basis and i’m also loving the Smart Powder Blush in Peachy Dreams for summer.

Sex Education on Netflix: My husband and I have binge watched Sex Education this week…I really liked it, but I couldn’t understand why it seemed to be set in the seventies (The decor, fashion) but was totally current (Smartphones, cultural references) Totally love Maeve though.

Al Fresco dinners: Now BBQ season is officially here we’ve had a few dinners outside, but my ultimate fave is a BBQ. Here’s to many more over the next few weeks.

Podcasts: These are such a great way of listening to something really interesting while getting things done (like the ironing!) they’re making an otherwise boring chore easier. At the moment Deliciously Ella and Happy Mum Happy Baby with Giovanna Fletcher are my go-to.

Hello!

Welcome to Lifestyle Notes! Thanks for visiting. I set up this blog as a creative outlet while on maternity leave to balance life with my two boys, Charlie and Jack, with my interests in flowers, interiors and wellbeing primarily with a bit of fashion and beauty thrown in for good measure. I started my career as a fashion journalist writing for ASOS Magazine and freelancing for Stylist and House of Hackney before taking the plunge into floristry so I like to dabble in a bit of everything.

My flower journey started Scarlet & Violet in London, in my opinion the best flower shop ever, and where I was really able to hone my floristry skills while learning from the master herself, Vic Brotherson. Since becoming a mum I have worked at a florist locally in Leigh-on-sea, Essex, which is a very different pace to London but a shop that still had that natural, wild flower thrown together aesthetic that I love.

We moved from our one bedroom flat in Highbury when I was expecting Charlie and have lived in our family home for nearly four years and I’ve been making improvements ever since! This is where my love for interiors comes in – and my mild (!) obsession with Pinterest. My next project is the garden, to see if my vision for a wild flower oasis can become a reality.

So while I’ve created this online space as a sort of journal for myself to keep up with everything I’m passionate about, I hope it inspires you in some way too!
